Celebrating the Pro-life Jesus

Jesus' Earthly Life
at Conception

The Angel Gabriel: "Do not be afraid,
Mary, for you have found favor with God.
And behold, you will conceive in your womb and
bring forth a Son,
and shall call His name JESUS.
He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest;
and the Lord God will give Him
the throne of His father
David. And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever,
and of His kingdom there will be no end." (Luke 1:26-38)

If Jesus was walking the earth today, He would be pro-life. I know that from the Bible. The story of Jesus didn't begin at Christmas with His birth. It began nine months earlier at His conception. We call the announcement by Gabriel "the Annunciation". The presence of Gabriel, one of the seven archangels, indicates the importance that God places on conception as a worthy personal event.

We look upon Jesus as the prototype person. He is not only our Savior but also our example. His existence in the womb teaches us about the importance of that stage of human existence. In that sense, commemorating "the Annunciation" is very important today. It has always been an important day in the Bible and throughout church history but it is particularly important now that the culture is questioning when life begins.

We have prepared materials to help teach this important concept from a Biblical perspective which I am making available to you. I have written a beautifully illustrated booklet on the natal life of Jesus. I will be using those in the Cedar Park Churches and Cedar Park Christian Schools. Every student will receive a copy. I want to make the booklet available to other churches, schools, and homeschool organizations as well. Please contact me directly at for details on how to acquire the booklets.

We have also prepared a layout for use in newspapers or as a poster. In other years, I have run it as a full-page newspaper ad. Even though it is only about the natal life of Jesus, people clearly understand that it speaks to the whole issue of life in the womb, including abortion. You are free to use this ad in your own local newspaper. Please note, each link is the same image. The only difference is the size of the file:

In addition, we have prepared curriculum for pre-school (ages 2 - 5) and elementary age children. You are welcome to download and use these "Life Sunday / Annunciation" lesson plans:

Another great teaching tool is the "Cemetery of the Innocents" shown here:

Cedar Park Cross Memorial to the Unborn
On Saturday, March 21, at 9:00am, many will gather at Cedar Park Church in Bothell (directions) with hammers in hand. They will install the latest version of "Cemetery of the Innocents" cross memorial in remembrance of the approximately 3,800 unborn who have lost their lives each day in our country since 1973. You are welcome to participate in putting up the crosses.

Then on Sunday, March 22, at 9:00am and 10:45am, Cedar Park will be having its special "Life Sunday / Annunciation" services.

We will also have a special emphasis in the Cedar Park Christian School Chapels on March 19th and March 26th. Homeschoolers and other Christian Schools are welcome to attend the March 26th Chapel Service. Please contact me for details at

The Cemetery of the Innocents cross memorial will be standing for one week and is open for individuals and families to visit for times of prayer and remembrance. I am open to making the crosses available to other organizations across the state for similar displays at your school or church.

I have written in previous editions about Embryo Adoption Services of Cedar Park. Already we have over 60 couples in the process at various stages as either donors or recipients of embryos for adoption. Our director, Maria Lancaster, has accepted an invitation to testify before the North Dakota Legislature this coming week on three bills pertaining to the sanctity of human life. Please keep that in your prayers. More information available at Feel free to connect with Maria at or 425-214-4512. This service has a very high educational value besides those who are helped directly.

There have been over 49 million abortions in America since abortion was legalized in 1973(1). If you break that number down to a daily average, over 3,800 unborn babies have been lost every day in our country to abortion over the past 35 years.

In King County where I live, 22.2%(2) of pregnancies end in abortion. That is more than one in five unborn children who are denied the opportunity to live. If you consider the abortions that take place in King County, based on a 40-hour work-week, an unborn baby is aborted every 13 minutes(3).

What can you do to help end abortion and protect life?

I encourage you to pray like never before. Our nation needs to humble itself and repent for many things including the bloodshed of our innocent unborn children. Next, speak out! Teach your children that life begins at conception and that each life is precious. Vote for pro-life candidates. Support local pro-life ministries through volunteer work or financial giving.

When Jesus said, "Inasmuch as you have done it to one of the least of these my brothers, you have done it to me (Matthew 25:40)," do you think He would include a helpless, unborn child without a voice as "one of the least of these"? Indeed, we believe that Jesus was Jesus from the moment of conception, not just the moment of birth. If Mary had aborted that conception, she would have aborted Jesus.

1) Using Alan Guttmacher Institute (AGI) 1973 - 2005 figures, estimating 1,206,200 abortions for 2006 and 2007, and factoring in the possible 3% undercount AGI estimates for its own figures, the total number of abortions performed in the U.S. since 1973 equals 49,551,703.
